For the second consecutive year, JCPenney stores will be closed on Thanksgiving, Nov. 25, 2021.
Stores will open early on Black Friday – at 5 a.m. and the company is offering employees an extra $2 an hour in pay during holiday weekends and “critical days.”
The retailer said it hopes to hire an additional 25,000 seasonal employees.
“We know customers are looking to shop early and on their schedule this year and JCPenney’s holiday savings are designed to give them access to amazing value all season long,” said Bill Cunningham, vice president of marketing strategy in a news release. “JCPenney is the perfect place for families to enjoy shopping together because we have gifts for every generation. To add a little fun to the experience, JCPenney is giving back to gift-givers themselves through the Share the Joy Sweepstakes.”
Some stores also will be open extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays leading up to Christmas.
JCPenney said it will start offering holiday savings on Nov. 1 with weekly deals and doorbusters in-store and online. Curated shopping is offered in the Holiday Shop and Playland. A preview of Black Friday deals is here.
Cyber Days deals will be online only from Nov. 28 to Dec. 1.
Hourly employees will receive an additional $2 per hour for working on Saturdays and Sundays starting Nov. 14 through Dec. 25; on Black Friday, Nov. 26; and Christmas Eve, Dec. 24. Job openings are posted here.
The Joy Comfort and Peace campaign was “influenced by its signature three-letter acronym.” JCPenney collaborated with music partner Breed to create an original holiday song. The Curtis Family C-notes recorded the full-length version.
And, the Share the Joy Sweepstakes will give shoppers a chance to win prizes and be entered in the grand prize drawing for a trip to the Super Bowl. Beginning on Nov. 1, shoppers will receive a collectible gift tag at checkout that will reveal a code that can be entered at JCPSharethejoy.com to reveal prizes and special coupons.
