Pearl Thusi has acquired equity in premium gin company, Black Rose Gin.
Over the years, we’ve seen a number of celebrities – including DJ Zinhle, Bonang Matheba and Boity – venture into the alcohol industry and the latest celebrity to join them is actress and TV personality, Pearl Thusi, who has acquired ownership equity in premium gin brand, Black
Speaking to TRUELOVE, Pearl says the partnership came at the perfect time and it aligns with her personal brand.
“When Seth, the CEO of Luxe Brands, requested to meet with me about Black Rose Gin, I told him how much I loved that gin and how it was a coincidence that my candle collection is also called Black Rose,” she said.
“The meeting was really good and I think what drew me to the brand was how natural and authentic the liquor in that bottle is. It’s a premium gin but it still has natural botanicals inside and if you know me, you know that I love being natural. We had a real synergy and the gin itself tastes really good.”
Apart from the fact that gin has less sugar and is healthier, it’s also a popular drink at the moment and this is a smart business move. I’m not going to be apologetic about choosing to do business smartly. I also love and enjoy gin, and it’s fun to mix and play with.
I actually have my own pomegranate and orange trees and I’ve grown mint leaves too, so I like to add all of that plus strawberries, ice and tonic water to create the perfect gin cocktail. If I’m feeling like I’m craving something sweet, then I’ll add a bit of sugarcane syrup which I’ll balance out with some lemon juice.
That’s something I hadn’t even thought about yet because I’m so excited about the three existing flavours that are there. I enjoy how you can drink the Ruby Blood Orange flavour on its own, the Blush Pink is flirty and fun and Satin Original is also good. Maybe later in the year we’ll come up with something a bit more special.
